Conditions Treated

At the office of Gregory A. Hamon MD FACS RVT, you can be sure that no matter what your medical condition may be, we are able to provide top-notch surgical care with a unique combination of expertise and modern technology. We use cutting-edge technologies and the latest advancements in medicine, such as the da Vinci Surgical System, to ensure our patients receive safe and effective treatment every time.

Some of the most common conditions we surgically treat are:

  • Appendicitis
  • Breast cancer
  • Gallbladder disease
  • GERD

We also treat the following:

Diverticulitis

Diverticulitis can occur when small pouches created from weak spots in the wall of the intestine become infected or excessively swollen. The common cause of this condition is not incorporating enough dietary fiber into your diet. Symptoms of diverticulitis include severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and fever.

Gastroparesis

Gastroparesis, often referred to as 'delayed gastric emptying,' is a medical condition that affects the normal automated movement of food from the stomach into the intestines. This phenomenon, caused by paralysis of the muscles of the stomach, occurs when nerves responsible for muscle contractions fail to function correctly. Symptoms vary greatly in severity and can range from occasional indigestion to severe nausea and vomiting, as well as potential weight loss.

Hernias

Inguinal Hernias

An inguinal hernia is an opening or weakness in the muscles of the lower abdomen, which allows organs or tissues to protrude through. They can be present at birth, although they most often occur over time due to factors such as lifting heavy items and straining when using the bathroom.

Hiatal Hernias

Hiatal hernias is a condition occurring when part of the stomach slides up through the diaphragm. This can be incredibly unpleasant if left unchecked. It's not just the pain that some experience but also the burning sensation in the chest that makes it an unwanted nuisance.

Ventral hernias

Ventral hernias are a common medical condition in which an organ or tissue bulges through a weak spot in the body's anterior abdominal wall. Though ventral hernias can affect anyone, they are more common among adults who have already had surgery on their abdomen, pregnant women, and those with a family history of ventral hernias. Symptoms can include the feeling of something lumpy near the abdomen and pain when pressing down.

GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus, or the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. Also commonly called acid reflux, GERD can damage the lining of the esophagus and cause a host of unwanted symptoms, including chest pain, trouble swallowing, and the sensation of a lump in the throat.

Esophageal Stricture

Esophageal stricture is a medical term for a narrowed esophagus. Commonly a result of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can cause scar tissue or tumors within the esophagus, stricture can make it difficult for patients to swallow properly. This can cause a host of concerns, including esophageal dysphasia, or food getting caught in the throat.
