Diverticulitis can occur when small pouches created from weak spots in the wall of the intestine become infected or excessively swollen. The common cause of this condition is not incorporating enough dietary fiber into your diet. Symptoms of diverticulitis include severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and fever.

Gastroparesis, often referred to as 'delayed gastric emptying,' is a medical condition that affects the normal automated movement of food from the stomach into the intestines. Also commonly called acid reflux, GERD can damage the lining of the esophagus and cause a host of unwanted symptoms, including chest pain, trouble swallowing, and the sensation of a lump in the throat.

Esophageal stricture is a medical term for a narrowed esophagus. Commonly a result of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can cause scar tissue or tumors within the esophagus, stricture can make it difficult for patients to swallow properly. This can cause a host of concerns, including esophageal dysphasia, or food getting caught in the throat.
